Behavioural Consultations

Dog Behaviour Consultation – The Essential First Step

Every new client begins with a dog behaviour consultation. This in-depth session allows a professional dog behaviourist in Somerset to assess your dog’s behaviour, identify triggers, evaluate safety, and create a tailored plan for long-term change.

This consultation is carried out as in-home dog training in Somerset, allowing me to observe your dog in their real environment — where behaviour issues actually occur.

During your dog behaviour consultation, you’ll receive:

  • A thorough behaviour assessment for reactive, aggressive, or anxious dogs

  • Full history taking and trigger analysis

  • Risk and safety evaluation in real-world situations

  • Observation of your dog in context (home, handling, environment)

  • Immediate, practical dog training advice you can use straight away

  • Honest explanations and guidance — no judgement, no quick fixes, no false promises

This dog behaviour consultation in Somerset is a required first step before booking any further training or day sessions. It ensures a safe, ethical, and effective approach for both you and your dog.

Prey Drive & Chasing Behaviour Support – Specialist Dog Training in Somerset

Does your dog struggle with chasing livestock, wildlife, or other animals?
Do outdoor distractions make recall unreliable or unsafe?

Dogs with a strong prey drive can be challenging and, at times, frightening to manage. This specialist dog training program is designed for owners who need greater control and safety, focusing on long-term behaviour solutions rather than quick fixes or suppression.

Delivered as in-home dog training and on-location sessions in Somerset, the program emphasises risk reduction, clear communication, and owner skill development. Specialist tools, including e-collars, are used responsibly and only when appropriate, following careful assessment.

About this training program

This bespoke package is designed for dogs with:

  • High prey drive

  • History of chasing behaviour

  • Unsafe or unreliable recall in real-world environments

And for owners who:

  • Need greater off-lead control where safe and appropriate

  • Want structured, ethical guidance

  • Are committed to learning and actively participating

Important:This is not a standalone “e-collar course” and is not suitable for all dogs.

Understanding the Use of E-Collars

E-collars are often misunderstood in dog training. When introduced carefully and used responsibly, they can support:

  • Clear communication

  • Safety

  • Reliable recall

Important points:

  • E-collars are never a default option

  • Use follows a behavioural consultation and risk assessment

  • Tools are always part of a wider training and management plan

  • Welfare, clarity, and proportional use are essential

If an e-collar is not appropriate for a dog or owner, it will not be used.
